What this puzzle teaches or tests

This game tests deduction from progressive clues about origin, language, spelling and meaning. It rewards both broad name knowledge and careful attention to linguistic detail.

Clues become more specific

Each round begins with a broad clue and then reveals progressively more useful information about origin, spelling, meaning and context. Guess early for a higher score, or open another clue when several names still seem possible. A final explanation identifies the answer and the evidence category behind it.

This is a deduction game, not a test of obscure celebrity names. The pool focuses on names covered by VooWood’s reference material, and every round can be replayed with a different target. Use the related guides to check unfamiliar languages or compare direct meanings with later associations.

Scoring begins at one thousand points and falls as clues are revealed. An early guess is rewarding, but using all available context is often the better learning choice. Starting a new round clears only the current puzzle and does not affect other games or contact-form information.

The input accepts a full typed guess and ignores capitalization and common accent differences during comparison. Clues never ask for private facts about real people. They focus on the linguistic information shown elsewhere on VooWood, which keeps repeated rounds educational and consistent with the site’s editorial scope.
