Daily Meaning Match

Five names or words. Five meanings. Match every pair with as few mistakes as possible. Today's puzzle uses VooWood's curated language data, so a vocabulary word, historical personal name and symbolic association are never treated as if they were the same thing.

How to play

Select a name or word, then select the meaning that belongs with it. Correct pairs lock in place. An incorrect match counts as one mistake but does not end the puzzle. Solve all five pairs to finish the day's board.

What this puzzle teaches or tests

Name meanings are not all the same kind of fact. Some are direct translations, some are inherited through older languages, and some are symbolic associations. VooWood labels those differences in the related guides.

How the daily board works

The board is selected from a fixed editorial data set using the current UTC date, so everyone receives the same five pairs for that day. Names, vocabulary words and meanings are shuffled independently. The timer and mistake counter help you compare your own attempts without sending a score to the server.

A direct meaning is different from a loose theme. Japanese entries show the relevant kanji where spelling controls meaning, while Latin entries distinguish ordinary words from historical personal names. That context is carried into the related guides instead of being hidden behind a one-word answer.

Because the chosen date and the puzzle state stay in the browser, loading the page does not create a public profile. The share button copies a compact score pattern rather than the answers, so another player can attempt the same board without spoilers.

If two candidate meanings look close, compare the language and connection labels implied by the term. The goal is not speed alone: an error-free board shows that each pair was understood in context. You can replay for practice, although only the dated board counts toward the local daily streak.
